Welcome to the Government-wide Strategic Solutions for Desktops and Laptops Ordering System through NASA SEWP.
As part of the Federal Strategic Sourcing Initiative (FSSI), a Workstations Commodity Team (WCT) was established in 2013 at the direction of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to develop a framework and strategy to reduce costs and increase value through the application of strategic sourcing principles. The Team, led by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) with participation by over twenty-five Federal Agencies, identified desktop and laptop configurations that meet the requirements of the Federal Government for approximately 80% of systems purchased, and also incorporated best practices in spend management.
NASA collaborated with implementation partners from the General Services Administration (GSA) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to develop a deployment strategy for the initiative. The Government-wide Strategic Solutions (GSS) for Desktops and Laptops is offered through the following acquisition vehicles: NASA Solutions for Enterprise Wide Procurement (SEWP), the NIH NITACC CIO-CS, and GSA Schedule 70 (Hardware). In October 2015, OMB issued M-16-02: Category Management Policy 15-1: Improving the Acquisition and Management of Common Information Technology: Laptops and Desktops. This policy mandates the use of GSS for Federal Agencies to fulfill the bulk of their desktop and laptop requirements.

GSS SYSTEM OFFERINGS
The GSS pilot program systems were implemented for purchase during the fourth quarter of 2015. After an extensive refresh process in which Agencies provided updates to their requirements and industry provided feedback, the GSS Version 2 was launched in April 2016. The most recent refresh process was completed June 2017, yielding GSS Version 3 systems. Three desktop configurations (a small form/all-in-one, a mini-tower, and a high-end), three laptops (a lightweight, a regular laptop, and a high-end) and a tablet are now available. These robust GSS Version 3 systems offer many options to meet customer needs, including enabled security, CPU choices, imaging, docking stations, extended warranties, etc. All of the GSS systems also follow terms and conditions agreed upon by the Workstation Category Team, including EPEAT Gold, (EPEAT Gold or Silver for Tablets only), Energy Star, Section 508, and Trade Act Agreement Compliant, 30-days or less delivery, and extended warranty options. The offerings will be evaluated and refreshed as needed based on customer feedback and industry updates.
